KOLKATA: Eminent Kolkata-based industrialist Sadhan C. Dutt passed away on Wednesday.
He was 86 and is survived by his wife and daughter. He was founder-chairman of
engineering consultancy outfit, Development Consultants Pvt. Ltd. and also the
U.S.-based Kuljian Corporation. The DC-Kuljian Group has an important presence
in IT and IT-enabled Services, real estate development, manufacturing of ash handling
systems, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.
West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee was among the dignitaries
who paid their last respects to the scientist-entrepreneur, a company release
said.
An engineer from the Banares Hindu University, he not only pioneered consulting
engineering services in India but also helped establish the credentials of Indian
engineering in the world.
His daughter, Shanta Ghosh, who is already the Vice-Chairperson of the group,
is tipped to takeover.
